Flipper Zero or ESP32 Marauder?
So I'm working on a small device for a project. I haven't messed with electronics in about a year, and even then I was just doing Meshtastic stuff with basically plug and play LoRa firmware. The last time I played with any ESP8266 or bluetooth/wifi stuff was before we moved.
Anyway, it looks like there has been a decent jump in hardware since then so I've got some ESP32 boards coming in this week to test out some ideas. I did flash one of my Heltec boards with the code and it does work but needs more on board functionality. One of those things is transmitting data from the device to the users computer via WIFI or BLE. I dealt with BLE back at my old job and was able to test the packets to make sure things were secure.
But I don't own any testing equipment, and it's been a while. There are new things out there to get data into Wireshark. I've seen the Flipper Zero for a while and how you can store creds and fart around with packets. But that thing is $200. That's my budget to build 4 prototype devices, not test them. So then I found the Marauder project which seems to have more of the toolset I need to do packet testing. It's half the price and I'm only using it literally on the desk with the device, so I don't need long range add ons or anything.
If any of yall have used these please let me know which one would be best for making sure when my users upload their file from my device to the network that they can't destroy my server with malicious packets pretending to come from their device, etc. Is the Flipper worth it or is it overkill?
